Goals for 2025 and Beyond
Planned Program Growth
The DC-3 Society continues to grow from a diverse and geographically dispersed core group into a worldwide community dedicated to the history, education, preservation, and active display of the legendary Douglas DC-3 aircraft. Through dynamic online engagement and in-person events, the Society connects aircraft owners, aviation professionals, historians, enthusiasts, and future generations around one of aviation’s most influential aircraft.

As our community expands, Affiliate Partners play an important role in helping the Society advance several key initiatives.

Education & Institutional Collaboration
The Society is expanding its educational outreach through ongoing collaboration with institutions such as the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum and the National WWII Museum. These partnerships support meaningful STEM-focused programming, educational events, and historical preservation initiatives designed to inspire and train the next generation of aviation professionals.
Supporting the Airworthiness of the DC-3
A core mission of the Society is helping ensure the continued airworthiness and safe operation of DC-3 aircraft worldwide. Through cooperative parts sourcing, insurance partnerships, pilot and mechanic training opportunities, and operational trend analysis, the Society supports aircraft operators while promoting safety and the long-term preservation of the aircraft still flying today.
Young Historians Program
The Society’s Young Historians program engages emerging researchers and students in documenting aviation history through interviews, archival research, and storytelling focused on the veterans and crews who flew and maintained these aircraft. By preserving these stories, the program helps ensure that the human legacy of the DC-3 continues to be shared with future generations.
Youth Access & Aviation Pathways
The DC-3 Society is committed to creating pathways for young people interested in aviation. Through scholarships, grants, and outreach initiatives, the Society works to provide opportunities for at-risk youth and aspiring aviation professionals to explore careers in aviation maintenance, aircraft operations, and flight.
